Hi there, I'm Zeena! I'm a loving and energetic girl on the hunt for a forever home of my own! I was found as a stray wandering the streets all alone in rough shape. Thankfully the kind people at Ruff Start Rescue took me in and nursed me back to health, but that was nearly four years ago already. Although I think my foster family is great, I'm beyond ready to find the place where I officially belong! I'm just a happy girl, with a love for life! I enjoy staying active and would even make the absolute best jogging and adventure buddy, if that's the kind of thing you're in to. I'm also a playful girl that's always down for endless rounds of tug-of-war!
When play and exercise time is over, I'm always ready to snuggle with my people on the couch. I'm a smart girl who is very eager to please! I know a few tricks already like, sit, wait and come when my name is called. I'm even crate trained too! I do need continued work on my leash training but with time and consistency, I know I will have it down in no time! I would love a forever home with a fenced in yard where I'm able to run free without my curiosity getting the best of me. I should always be supervised while outside as I've been known to jump fences from time to time, to see what I'm missing on the other side! I also do fine on a long tether as long as someone keeps an eye on me, what can I say I'm a curious girl! I can be a bit picky about my canine friends and tend to get along better with the male dogs of the world. I will definitely require slow introductions with all new potential doggy friends, that way we have the chance to start out on the right paw! I do love to play with other dogs once we successfully establish a friendship, but am not afraid to let them know when I've had enough either. I do have a high prey drive so a home without cats and toy sized dogs will be necessary. I do wonderful with the kids in my foster home and even give them lots of kisses!
I have unfortunately developed some food allergies but luckily it's easily controlled by feeding me limited ingredient dog food. I do great on duck flavored foods and try to avoid chicken, beef and eggs. I also struggle with incontinence issues. I've tried several medications to help with this issue and have even been seen by a specialist, but we can't quite pinpoint the problem. I do go potty outside but tend to have accidents inside as well. The best way to manage it is by providing me with frequent potty breaks and keeping a diaper on me indoors. My foster mom says the diapers are $11 per pack of 12, which will last me 2-3 weeks depending on how long I'm kenneled and how many potty breaks I get. I'm really just the sweetest girl you'll ever meet, full of unconditional love and a little bit of sass. I don't understand why I've been waiting so much longer than all the other dogs, I know that I'm such a good girl! Although it's been 4 years of waiting I will never give up hope, I know my perfect family is out there somewhere still searching for me!
